As some of you may have noticed, there is a "Downloads" link on the top navigation bar of the website. I have installed a new files section where users will be able to download data files for various scanners in various program formats. The actual link to the files section is:
http://www.scannewengland.net/forums/downloads.php
Registered users will be allowed to share files by uploading them. When uploaded, files go into a queue and await a moderator's approval, so they will not show up right away. When uploading files please use the appropriate sections to provide data on what type of scanner the file is for, what area the file covers, and what program the file was built in.
As this is a work in progress you may experience an error when uploading. The likely error will be due to an unsupported file extension. If you get this message send me a PM with the filename and what program it's for, and I'll add it as a valid extension. For those of you that don't know what "extension" means, it is the (usually) 3 characters after the dot (.) in a filename, such as easternma.m96.
This section will replace the forum that currently has files for download in it. That forum will continue to be available to those users that are requesting files for certain scanners/areas/programs.
Current known issues:
1. File size limits. LARGE files may not upload properly. PM me if you experience this problem with detailed information.
2. The aforementioned extension issue, which is easily solved.
3. Tests by moderators indicated upload failures when using Vista Home Premium (32 bit). The error involved a "missing security token". Please report any Vista anomalies or advise if it works for you.
Please help to build a repository by uploading your files and sharing them. Thanks!
