Default With the latest bomb scare/bank robbery Thursday.

I was wondering if anyone knew the freqs for ATF in mass and the MSP Bomb Squad freq(s). I tried to listen for any weird talk groups on the metrowest control channel Thursday but, no luck.

The MSP Bomb Unit is under the [Fire Investigation Unit] which is assigned to the Fire Marshall. Similar to the CPAC aka Det Units assigned to the DA's Offices statewide.

The FIU has Talk-Groups but would likely appear on the Troop Channel or SOPS channel assigned for the incident.

    34992 FM-East Fire Marshal
    35024 FM-South Fire Marshal
    35088 FM-Central Fire Marshal
    35120 FM-West Fire Marshal

ATF is in the VHF High spectrum and hop-around
RR has a nice listing of many of their channels at BATF

The Bomb Squad seems to be paged out via cell phones or pagers.

They do monitor the Troop TGs of the Troop they are traveling in (Similar to the Air unit). I just heard a bomb squad unit on C-PTRL 1 ask about a BOLO that Troop C put out. The Bomb Squad unit IDed as Trooper LAST NAME of the Bomb Squad when calling Station C in regards to the BOLO.

Those freqs would be useful but, I can't find anywhere a description of what areas/regions the tactical 1-6 are.

    Hmm.

I know that there are ATF field offices in Boston and Worcester.

What do you mean Area/Region ?

Those are the channels used by BATF nationally.

They are in use, you just need to put them all in, as they could pop-up on any of them, depending on what is going on.

If a bank is involved the FBI task force usually takes over pretty fast. I heard them working with the MSP real early on on this one. They encrypt on anything sensitive.

I suppose you guys wouldn't know any FBI Boston freqs? ;-)

I've tried to find them but, all I get are outdated ones:

FBI Boston Control 167.3625 PL: 167.9

    " " Boston Tactical 167.3125 PL: 167.9

    " " Boston Robbery Task Force 167.4125

    " " Boston (Unknown) 167.4375 PL: 167.9

Again, I'm pretty positive these are outdated an not in use because I've never heard anything on them.

    Cool

If you have a Pro-97 their freqs will do you no good. They are all P25 and encrypt for anything sensitive. As I have said in the past I will not list their frequencies on the net (this is my personal rule not the boards). I think their is still a part of this hobby that can be left to the individual (searching for what you can find) and doesn't need to be shared with strangers. Especially with what their work usually covers. Again this is just my personal feeling not the boards or necessarily anyone else. I have seen many postings in the past but I don't participate in them anymore. The more I scan the more I feel that there is part of this hobby where you have to act on what you feel should be your own responsibilities as a scanner listener. And not wait for legislation due to irresponsible behavior. I do admit I was not always so careful about this in the past but I have learned my lesson.

Haha yeah John. I wasn't really serious about someone posting them. I knew that they never would be. Plus, it's the FBI for crying out loud. Police and fire are one thing.

Search 167-168 and you'll find them.

3125 was an old Simplex hasn't been used since 90's
3625 was an old Simplex hasn't been used since 90's

    4125 - Yup now P25
    4375 - Active 24/7 with 167.9 [Patched from BAPERN]

I would suggest anyone looking spend sometime [as Scott has done] with either Unattended Software or just Scan/Search of

    138-144, 148-150.8, 162-174 and 406-420 Mhz

Remember, just because you don't hear them, doesn't mean the channel is not out there. We have plenty of FED Rptrs and Systems in the Boston - Lawrence - Worcester - Springfield - Brockton - Fall River/New Bedford and Cape Cod. Not all are like our Police/Fire/EMS and you might only hear Once every 6 mo's [but when you do ! O Boy]

I didn't know this until reading a news story a few minutes ago but, there have been a few other bank robberies around the area, both of the Bank Of Americas. They don't fit the "bomb scare/bank robbery combo" however.

The Bank Of America at 1659 Blue Hill Ave. in Mattapan was robbed on April 9th but, no weapon brandished.

Later that day, the MSP Bomb Squad was called to the Bank Of America at 133 Mass. Ave in Boston due to a suspicious package.
