Hi guys, The largest passenger aircraft in the world touched down at Logan today. I am not sure how long it's gonna be here, but I expect it to be gone by the snow on Wednesday. It is at the North gate, near Signature Aviation. they are giving tours to all the media and politicos. ( Who says "Politicos" anymore....sheeesh)
Like I said, I think it might leave sometime Tuedsay, it' s just here to show off.

I got some good information that the Airbus will be leaving for France tomorrow morning at 0800 local time. Anyone with their scanner on or camera ready please get some shots.

I wonder if I saw it today on my Kinetic SBS-1. I'll have a look and follow up if so.

I do have an A380 in the database, Air France 007, but it shows out of JFK to LFPG, which is Charles de Gaulle Airport in France. Since 1/14 I've seen it and Air France 006 just about each day.

Scott, the flight was blacked out on flighttracker, its registered under airbus so not sure what that call would be. I did listen to it talking to the tower but I can't remember what call they used. Something followed by Super I think. They had chase cars follow it down the runway to check for debris/damage, kind of like a FOD walk.

"Airbus 501 Super" was the callsign
Hopefully I'll grab it Tuesday when it leaves. It's got to be using ADS-B, I would think.

Wow. That is a crapload of airplane right there!
MassPort has some photos up on it's Facebook page. You can find them here:

Local media outlets are saying it'll be leaving around 8AM this morning (Tuesday). If it uses 33L, I'll try to have my camera ready.

whdh was calling it a compatibility test to see if it actually fit on the tarmac. what would've happened if it didnot fit? would the do a touch and go even if they can do one?
I've been listening to the Airbus talk to Boston Ground, and they were calling it a compatability test too. This thing is late, but looks like it should be launching before too long...Probably before 9AM.

what frequency are they using? or frequencies
Any updates? I'm networked into my SBS-1 but I don't see it on screen. I suppose it might not have ADS-B but I can't really imagine a new aircraft, especially one of this nature, not having it. If it's up there I should see it.

Would like to see a pix of it next to a 747 or C5 Galaxy to get a true idea of its size.

I think I have it now maybe. I have AIB502 at flight level 230 enroute to France.

The new 747-8 is actually the longest at 253 feet now. The passenger version will carry 500. It took flight yesterday in Seattle.
