TV Channels used for public safety

The FCC made a decision to allocate TV channels 14-20 for use in the public safety sector in larger metropolitan areas. The assignments within this range are typically called T Band, named for their using the Television Band frequencies for two way use. Here are the TV channels used in what cities.

  • 14 (470-475.9875) - Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; New York City; Cleveland, OH; Pittsburg, PA
  • 15 (476-481.9875) - Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; New York City; Cleveland, OH
  • 16 (482-487.9875) - San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Detroit, MI; Boston, MA; Dallas-Fort Worth,TX
  • 17 (488-493.9875) - San Francisco, CA; Houston, TX; Washington, DC
  • 18 (494-499.9875) - Washington, DC; Pittsburg, PA
  • 19 (500-505.9875) - Philadelphia, PA
  • 20 (506-511.9875) - Los Angeles, CA; Philadelphia, PA.
  • In the Buffalo, NY and Cleveland, OH area, a special assignment of 422-424MHz is used for public safety.
