Scanner Master Partnership
Nov 03, 2008 - 6:53 PM - by Scott/SNE Webmaster
I am pleased to announce that Scan New England has entered into a partnership with Scanner Master.

This has been in the plans for some time, and was finalized today after a telephone conversation with Rich Barnett, President of Scanner Master. Scan New England has joined Scanner Master's affiliate program. This means that if you click on a Scanner Master banner or ad and make a purchase from the company, a portion of the purchase is returned to Scan New England. This is in effect immediately. I encourage you to peruse Scanner Master's stock of scanners, accessories, and unique equipment, and consider them as a source for your scanning and hobbyist equipment purchases.

As far as changes to the website, they will be twofold. On the site's main page, a rotating Scanner Master ad will run. Clicking on that ad will bring you to the specific equipment that is currently displayed in the ad. From there you can navigate where you wish. This rotating ad will appear on the front page of the site only. The second change will be a small Scanner Master banner that will appear at the top center of each page. Clicking on it will take you to the main page of Scanner Master's website.

As it is with donations you make to the site, all proceeds will be put back into the website. This arrangement works both ways, and provides a local and well established company with business.

There will be some additional information forthcoming as well that may be of benefit to all registered members of Scan New England.
New England FCC Frequency Database
Nov 02, 2008 - 4:10 PM - by Scott/SNE Webmaster
The New England FCC Frequency Database has been recompiled with licenses up to date as of 11/2/08. This is a searchable database of all FCC private land mobile radio licenses between 30-960 MHz in the 6 state New England region.

Next compilation will be on or about 12/1/08.
New User Post Moderation Initiated
Oct 28, 2008 - 6:46 PM - by Scott/SNE Webmaster
Newly registered users now will have their first post moderated. What that means is that the first post will go into a queue where either my moderators or I can review it and approve it. Once approved it will be posted.

This should alleviate a lot of the spam posts that we see here. Of course violators will be banned and their IP address will be banned from any access to any part of the website.

This required all registered users that have made more than one post to be automatically configured into another user category. If you experience any problems posting please notify me by e-mail as soon as possible.

Interestingly, there are 991 registered users here who have made one or zero posts since registering. 642 users have made two or more posts. 187 never followed up with their e-mail confirmation message after completing the initial registration. This count does not include moderators or admin.

Again, please e-mail if you're having any problems posting.
Welcome To Scan New England!
Oct 12, 2008 - 2:45 PM - by Scott/SNE Webmaster
Welcome to Scan New England, the final major expansion of this website. Thanks to all of the fine folks here that have contributed to this site over the years. Without your help this would not have been possible.

Here are some of the site's enhancements.
  • New England Frequency Database (formerly known as "NEUS"). It's back and better than ever. NEFD is a searchable database of all private land mobile licenses for transmitters in the six New England states. It covers the frequency range of 30-960 MHz. NEFD is now integrated into the website's style for better appearance and menu access. It's now searchable by county as well, which was not an option in the older version.
  • Improved menu bars. All regularly accessed modules of the website are now accessible from the top horizontal bars that show on every website page.
  • New theme/appearance. Thanks to Matt/Scanrjok for his assistance in design.
  • A new Chat Room for those that don't use Teamspeak. This chatroom is accessible by registered users only.
  • Improved Teamspeak Web Interface dynamically adjusts in size to amount of online clients. Easy to access Connect button with less clutter.
  • Front page of website redesigned. Feed information moved down in center block. News items moved to top. NEFD and CLID (Confirmed Loggings Database) "quicksearch" boxes added to center block.
There is still work to be done, primarily in re-doing all links in the Wiki that point to non-Wiki pages at Scan Cape Cod. This will take some time, but the rest of the Wiki and the rest of the site is up and running. If you do happen across any issues, please post them here or e-mail me. Please note that my new e-mail address is scott at scannewengland dot net.
Teamspeak Server Registration
Oct 01, 2008 - 8:52 PM - by Scott/SNE Webmaster
The switchover has been made. Registration is now required in order to listen to feeds. I have made every effort to make this as clear as possible. The greeting message at the server is as follows:

Welcome to New England Scanner Feeds. If you are an unregistered user, you need to register in order to listen to feeds. Please click on the "Self" menu, then "Register With Server". Or see:

http://www.scannewengland.net/forums...ad.php?t=12129

There is now a REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS channel....directly below the INSTRUCTIONS - CLICK HERE FIRST channel. I'm not sure how anyone can miss the fact that registration is needed. The info has been posted here for days, and has been posted at the Live Scanner Audio Yahoogroup and Radio Reference.

Again....here is the link to the step by step tutorial for registration:
